Designed and constructed in 1960 by the architect Harold Zook as accommodations for teachers, The Bungalows at the Joshua Retreat Center have been gracefully transformed.
Homestead Modern, a high end hospitality company, has restored the buildings in collaboration with Brad Dunning, an acclaimed architectural designer and restorer.
Striking yellow textiles accent the 14 studio and one-bedroom bungalows. The color is a nod to Swiss architect and founding father of modernism, Albert Frey. He popularized this hue, reminiscent of Encelia flowers, in the decor of many homes in nearby Palm Springs.
The guests of The Bungalows have access to the retreat’s hot and cold plunge pools and can partake in meditation sessions, sound baths and more.
Wherever your travels take you, we hope you embrace each day.
