A collaboration between hoteliers, Lyon Porter and Jersey Banks, and hotel developer, Phil Hospod (known for Freehand, LINE and NoMad hotels), the Urban Cowboy Lodge is a delightful escape from… anywhere.
Upon arrival, guests are guided into enjoyment with the simple question, “bubbles or bourbon?” After selecting a welcome drink, they are invited to relax in the lounge prior to being shown to their room.
Once in their room, guests experience a unique and instantly comforting interior design composed of reclaimed natural materials, varied textures, vintage and one-off decor, and hand-designed patterns. Plus, there is no shortage of Pendleton.
The original Urban Cowboy started as a passion project for Lyon and Jersey in, then burgeoning, Brooklyn in 2014. The pair opened up their renovated townhome to the public and it quickly became a cultural hub. It was here that the Urban Cowboy motto “arrive as strangers, leave as friends” began.
Go for a night (or, better yet, a couple) and you’ll see first hand this saying come to life at the Lodge. Guests casually bumping into each other over food and drink, getting competitive during Saturday night (hip hop or reggae) bingo, or cooling down at the swimming hole on a hot summer day.
Disclaimer: I share properties that appeal to me based on design, history and a sense of place. I haven’t had the chance to visit every property that I share in this newsletter. My hope is that you will discover new places that you want to visit and experience.
